Role models movie quotes9/19/2023 ![]() The Cynic: Danny has become incredibly jaded by his work, which has unfortunately bled into his social interactions by the start of the movie.Character Development: Danny becomes more willing to do stuff he doesn't normally do and starts to enjoy his life, Wheeler becomes more responsible as a person, Augie becomes more confident, and Ronnie becomes less of a foul mouthed douche. The Casanova/ Lovable Sex Maniac: Wheeler.Bromantic Comedy: Not so much between the main characters, but moreover between their respective kids they have to look after.Bland-Name Product: Minotaur, an obvious stand-in for Red Bull. They do start to come around in the end after seeing their son participate in a full-scale LARPing session in the climax of the movie. It doesn't help that one is a stepdad who clearly sees him as unwanted baggage. After Augie is banned from LARPing, however, they reveal themselves to be very selfish, judgmental, and highly dismissive of their son and his interests. Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Augie's parents at first seem like decent enough people who just don't quite understand their son's passion.Augie takes this opportunity to eliminate the rest of Argotron's guards and face him one-on-one. Danny pretends to be wounded, knowing King Argotron will want to finish him personally. Batman Gambit: Danny and Augie pull this off during the Battle Royale.Reverted when she asks him to be her king.Augie is "king" for about thirty seconds, before Lady Esplin (Sarah) "kills" him and becomes queen instead. Awesome Moment of Crowning: Subverted.Subverted a bit in that Stifler is a Jerk with a Heart of Gold, while Wheeler is a pretty good guy at face value (unlike Danny, he tries to make the best of his time with Ronnie from the start) and even likes his job of telling kids to stay off drugs, even if he doesn't abide by it himself. Actor Allusion: Seann William Scott plays a sex-obsessed, rowdy guy who goes on a last name basis, and said last name ends in "-er".The film stars Seann William Scott, Paul Rudd, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Bobb EJ Thompson, Jane Lynch, Ken Jeong, and Elizabeth Banks. For their service, the two men work at a youth mentoring program designed to pair kids with adult role models. It may be a bad year for movies, but it's a damn fine one for comedy.Role Models is a 2008 American comedy film directed by David Wain about two energy drink salesmen who are ordered to perform 150 hours of community service as punishment for various offenses. ![]() Can you say the same for yourself? I can't right now. You got to give a bunch of people playing with foam swords in the forest their due. ![]() But in Role Model's extreme example of people doing what makes them happy, it really does ring true. It's been said in so many films that the message seems false at this point. Do what makes you happy, no matter what your parents or anyone else tells you. And it's here that the film makes it's stand. It's hilarious, and does look terribly fun. The result is a case of "so lame it's awesome" where the absurdity of D&D is given the gravitas of your average Hollywood blockbuster. Role Models takes a surprisingly even handed look at it. One of the films defining elements is the showcasing of role-playing games such as Dungeons&Dragons (here it is known as L.A.I.R.E). Directed by David Wain, maker of The Ten (funny cult film), and written by Wain and Paul Rudd, this film is hilarious. But aside from a few film snobs, who goes to see a comedy for its original plot? The important thing is the laughs, and this is where the film delivers. I heard many girls in the audience very sensitive to his plight in the audience. But he's a very palatable dork and may help raise the image of dorks everywhere above the status of subhuman. So yeah, he's pretty firmly typecast as "dork" at this point. Christopher Mintz-Plasse, or "McLovin'" as he's known throughout America, plays essentially the same character but sweeter and shy and, funny enough, less creepy. Thompson is one of the better child actors of his age and makes the nightmare of every teacher a cool often wickedly funny little character. Their interactions with the two talented young boys are funny and occasionally sweet. Rudd has dry sarcasm to spare and Scott plays a sex-addled numbskull. Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott have good chemistry. Wheeler is given a foul mouthed terror of a boy (Bobb'e J. Danny is given a boy Augie (Christopher Mintz-Plasse of Superbad) who wears a cape and is into role-playing games. They are given the choice of jail or community service with troubled kids, and choose the latter. Role Models - Two energy drink spokesmen, Wheeler and Danny (Seann William Scott and Paul Rudd) get in trouble with the law after Danny has a break-up with his girlfriend (Elizabeth Banks who is in everything these days).
